BIO

In the midst of pursuing a Bachelors of Science Degree in Public Administration, Bishop Gregory A. Foster acknowledged the call of God in his life for full time ministry.  He then began his ministry at the YMCA, at 3 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Bishop Foster was ordained as the Pastor of Bible Faith Tabernacle in 1982.  While pastoring at YMCA, he outreached to the Red Hook community and organized weekly street meetings.  He also provided transportation for the people to attend Sunday school services in the Red Hook community.  From this outreach effort, the membership increased and through the teaching, many people lives were transformed by the power of God’s word.

Bishop Foster’s was blessed to relocate the ministry to 1178 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY.  At this new home location, monthly food service was provided for the Bedford Stuyvesant Men’s Shelter, the needy and homeless people in the community.  Bishop Foster played and instrumental role in the Gavin Cato incident, that took place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY.  A Prayer vigil was organized for both parties involved in the incident and peace was promoted between Blacks and Jews.  Through Bishop’s involvement in this incident, ABC and Channel 7 News took noticed and aired some footage.  The handy work of God continued to show in Bishop Foster’s life and a former member with a substance abused background spoke on the 700 Club broadcast on how the teaching of God’s word had transformed her life.

In 1990 as the work of the ministry expanded the Lord afforded the opportunity again to relocate to a beautifully building that was once a supermarket, at 1368 St. Johns Place, Brooklyn, NY.  Pre the pandemic of 2020, annually Community Day events would afford the community to enjoy a day filled with feast and activities for all.  Other services offered to the community were GED preparation classes, beginner computer classes, and job referrals.

In 1997, Bishop Foster extended himself to the community and joined with the 77thPrecinct Council and Community Board #8 and served as a Co-chair to the National Night Out Against Crime.  Through his involvement, he earned citations and accolades by city and government officials.  Bishop Foster also held the position of Clergy Liaison for the 77thPrecinct for some years.

Now that we are experiencing an unprecedented pandemic, Bishop Gregory A. Foster continues to pursue the increase of souls for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Winning souls remains Bishop Foster’s continually driving force to fulfill the great commission.
